Struggling to Keep Up With Your New Year Resolutions?

It’s the New Year! As the saying goes, with a new year comes a new you. By now, many of us have also hit the point where we start giving up on our New Year resolutions. We all make new year resolutions and when they fail there are multitudes of excuses that we come up with to justify the abandonment of our goals. Some of these excuses include that we “couldn’t find the time” or “it was simply too big a change in routine”. There’s also the oh so infamous struggle of will power to follow through on our resolutions. The basic advice in coming up with a new years resolution and keeping with it usually goes along the lines of starting small. However, this advice is never really as easy to implement as it may seem. If you are looking for a New Year’s resolution that’s easy to keep and bound to make you smile, we have the perfect one for you: take care of your smile.
Your smile has huge effects on your social life. A great smile can help you in life, while a conventionally unattractive one can hinder. So why not take the steps to sustain and support that smile so it can shine throughout the new year? There are only 2 steps you need to take.
Firstly if you want to get that picture perfect smile you’ve always dreamed of you’re going to have to set up an oral hygiene routine— here are some tips:

1) Don’t forget to brush your teeth— At least twice a day: preferably before bed and when you wake up in the morning
2) Don’t neglect the rest of your mouth — Gently scrub your gums, tongue, roof of your mouth, and inside of your cheeks
3) Don’t forget to floss, and don’t let anything stop you (just remember to be gentle)
4) Fluoride— using products such as toothpaste and mouthwash that contain fluoride are a great way to protect yourself from tooth decay

Secondly, you also need to make regular visits to your dentist or another oral health care professional— just to make sure that there’s nothing wrong, and if there is, to make sure it gets the proper treatment it deserves. This will help you avoid oral disease and disorders such as cavities and gingivitis ( you can read more about both here ).
Celebrate a new year and a new you, or even the same you, slightly improved — more importantly, Toronto Tooth wants you to celebrate a healthy smile!
At Toronto Tooth we strive to bring awareness and battle inequalities related to the oral health gap in the Greater Toronto Area. Apart from spreading awareness, we also help provide the homeless community with oral hygiene products. To read more about us Click Here and to donate to our cause Click here.
